Following an announcement by The Red Dirt Rebel, Cotton Fest took to their social media accounts to announce the lineup for the 5th edition of William Clark Green’s festival.

Green will close out the festival once again which is always a great time. His set last year fresh off of the release of Baker Hotel was amazing and I think he brings a little extra energy and showmanship to his hometown shows. Having seen him in a small bar to then seeing him on the giant Cook’s Garage stage just took all the things I already liked about his live show and took them to a much higher level. Rounding out the top line is Oklahoma southern and country rock outfit Read Southall Band, who put out a fantastic record called For the Birds a few years back, and legendary Alabama band Shenandoah which is a really cool grab for this festival and feels kind of risky knowing the crowd this fest draws but I feel like this is a risk that could definitely pay off. Just gotta trust the process, let the kids get some beers in them, let Shenandoah kick into Two Dozen Roses, it’s gonna be magical.

Further down the lineup, Kevin Fowler is playing this and I will never get tired of seeing him live no matter how many times I do it. I’ve seen him maybe 6 times now and it’s just so much fun. He’s great at bantering, he’s a great personality on stage, and he has so many stupid fun songs that’ll lead to sing-alongs and possibly lots of beer showers. I’m also excited to get a second, possibly third dose of Kaitlin Butts live. The more I listen to what else can she do? the better it gets and her JAB Fest set in October left me hungry for more. Her energy on stage is infectious, her voice is so great, and seeing her in this environment is going to be a wild time. She’s also on the lineup for Two Step Inn, a country festival in Georgetown, Tx that I’m attending the weekend before this and I’m happy that William grabbed her because if it comes down to it, I won’t feel bad for skipping Kaitlin’s set at Two Step Inn because I’ll get to see her and be way closer for her set here.

Rounding out this year’s lineup, Kody West and Grady Spencer & The Work will both be super fun sets that will bring the crowds in early and energized. While I’ve never really listened to either, word of mouth carries a lot of weight and I’m going to be upset if the people who tell me they’re great live are lying. Carson Jeffrey, Tyler Halverson, and Mason Lively are all slowly gaining more and more traction and will probably be huge soon so don’t miss out on your chance to see them now. Finally, Kix Faux will be a super fun way to open the show. They’re already unique with a fiddle player who’s also the frontman. Also, the harmonies they bring are great and getting to hear those live will be really cool.

Tickets for both days are on sale now. Two-Day General Admission wristbands cost $55 and fees. You can also get a VIP wristband with access to a Thursday dinner and pre-party for $200 and fees. Should you want to, you can also camp on-site with an RV. There’s also going to be a cornhole tournament, a scramble golf tournament, a BBQ cook-off, I think there was even a goat roping tournament last year that I hope returns this year. Tickets are on sale now at https://www.cottonfestlubbock.com/. Tickets for Saturday only will be available closer to the fest.

I got to go to the fest last year and take a bunch of pictures for this station, you can read my coverage of it here. I’m excited for year two and I just pray that it’s nowhere near as windy and dusty as it was last year. Hope I can see a ton of y’all there!
