Album Review: “The Organic Band” by Babe Rainbow

This year, Babe Rainbow released their fifth studio album, The Organic Band. This album is full of all the classic elements of a psychedelic jazz album and blends funky guitar grooves with ethereal vocals, a common practice in their music.

The album opens with the song “Inner Space,” infused with a 70s psychedelic rock sound that serves as a great opener for the album. Each song on the album finds new ways to riff on classic psychedelic rock and jazz elements and make it their own. “Fantastic Landscape,” a personal favorite from the album is a bit more ethereal and chill than some of the other tracks and shows off the range that Babe Rainbow are able to achieve in their playing.

The band formed back in 2014 and have toured all over the world, building up quite a fanbase with over 850,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. This new album shows off why people keep returning to their music, for their flare and special touch on a fairly popular musical genre right now.

If you’re looking for something new to chill out and listen to, definitely give Babe Rainbow’s new album a try. And, if you’re looking to dip your toes into psychedelic jazz and don’t want to be thrown into the deep end with the likes of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, this album is a great entry point.
