Travel warnings issued for parts of Mexico, including Tamaulipas

The State Department is urging Americans to avoid traveling to certain parts of Mexico during the holidays due to violence and criminal activity.

The warning issued Tuesday includes the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, which borders the Rio Grande Valley.

The State Department says crime and kidnapping are reasons to avoid traveling to the area.

The agency also says it can only provide limited help to Americans in Tamaulipas who are affected by crime or violence.
