Texas suspends permit process for medical Marijuana distributors

The Texas Department of Public Safety is suspending the permit process for companies that want to sell medical marijuana in the state.

The DPS announced Wednesday that it isn’t accepting applications for new permits, three weeks after stating that applications could be submitted between October 1st and November 1st.

Only three companies are currently licensed under the state’s Compassionate Use Program.

The DPS is reportedly trying to figure out how many new licenses may be needed since recent changes to the program increased the number of potential patients.
