Governor Greg Abbott says Texas is receiving four-billion-dollars to prevent future flooding.

Texas General Land Office Commissioner George P. Bush will lead the program that is receiving the funding.  Abbott said the program is long-term focused and is aiming to “lessen the impact of future disasters.”

Congress approved the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant for Mitigation in 2018 after Hurricane Harvey the previous year.
