TX Schools Weigh Two Plans For Arming Teachers And Staff

Gun Rights

(Austin, TX) — Texas schools that want to arm their staffs have two programs to consider.

The Marshal Program allows local school boards to authorize trained and licensed employees to carry handguns on campus.

The Guardian Plan allows local school boards to set up training standards and authorize specific teachers and staff to be armed on campus at all times.

Either plan requires districts to pay for training, guns and ammo. But only the Marshal Program will help districts pay for those expenses using state funds.
