(London) — President Trump’s interview with a British tabloid is causing a stir in London.
In an interview with The Sun Thursday, Trump criticized London Mayor Sadiq Khan, saying he’s soft on terrorism and has done a terrible job.
Trump suggested that Khan’s criticism of him reflects a disrespect for the office of President. Khan is a Muslim who has criticized Trump’s ban on travel to the U.S. from several mostly-Muslim countries.
Trump was also critical of Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit policy, saying a compromise with the European Union would kill a U.S.-UK trade deal.
He added that May’s opponent, Boris Johnson, would make a great prime minister.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders later issued a statement saying the President likes and respects Prime Minister May very much.
