(Austin, TX) — Governor Greg Abbott and Democratic challenger Lupe Valdez are agreeing in principle to a debate on TV, though Valdez is quibbling about the timing.
Nexstar Media Group has invited the candidates to debate on September 28th in Austin.
The GOP governor’s campaign accepted on Wednesday.
Valdez, the former Dallas County sheriff, objects to having the debate on a Friday evening during high school football season.
Nexstar plans to air the debate on its 12 TV stations statewide, and on partner stations in Houston, Dallas and San Antonio.
