Senate Poised To Confirm New Homeland Security Chief 

(Washington, DC)  —  The Senate is expected to easily confirm a new homeland security secretary today.

President Trump nominated Kirstjen [[ KIRST-jen ]] Nielsen to replace John Kelly, who left to become White House chief of staff. Nielsen was Kelly’s chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security.

She was also a member of the Homeland Security Council in the administration of President George W. Bush.
