Clean Water Program, EPA Audits Houston

(Houston, TX) — The Environmental Protection Agency is auditing the city of Houston for its use of a clean-water loan program.

The EPA announced last week that it had started an audit of the city’s use of money from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund. The program allows states to make low-interest loans for water infrastructure projects with the help of federal grants.

Neither federal nor city officials have said what triggered the audit or what’s being examined.
