U.S. Intel At Odds Over CIA’s Take On Russian Hacking Goal

(Washington, DC)  —  There’s apparently some disagreement on the part of top U.S. intelligence officials over the CIA’s take on Russian hacking.

Reuters cites three unnamed, high-level government officials as saying the Office of the Director of National Intelligence has not endorsed the CIA’s conclusion that Moscow tried to help President-elect Donald Trump win the 2016 election.

The office oversees all 17 U.S. intelligence agencies.

One of the American officials is quoted as saying the CIA’s judgment is simply based on the fact that Russian hackers targeted both Republicans and Democrats, but only information embarrassing to Democrats was leaked.

Trump has called the CIA assessment, “ridiculous.”
