Episode 39: Jana Hunter

Broadcast: 18 December 2016

Guest: Jana Hunter, Executive Director, Lubbock Area Affiliate of Susan G. Komen

Jana Hunter joined the Lubbock Area Affiliate of Susan G. Komen as executive director in February 2015. Her experiences at the YWCA of Lubbock and as a breast cancer co-survivor helped prepare her for the position. Jana has worked in the athletics media relations departments at Abilene Christian University (her alma mater), the University of Tennessee in Knoxsville, and the University of Washington in Seattle; at Human Kinetics Publishing as an acquisitions editor in the trade division in Champaign, Illinois; and at the YWCA of Lubbock as director of support services and communications director (among an array of other duties and titles). A West Texas native, Jana grew up in a pasture in Howard County and on a ranch in Glasscock County before crisscrossing the country for jobs, greenery and adventure. She loves to go outside and play, travel, laugh, read and write (‘Rithmetic is just OK). Jana has competed in basketball, road races, adventure races, board games, and just about every intramural sport possible. When she gets swept up with the “wrong” crowd, she ends up climbing Mt. Rainier in Washington State or hiking the Appalachian Trail for a week. Neither are very good for her feet, but they make for great writing material.
