HOUSTON- More than half of the 511 at-risk children yet to be screened by Child Protective Services have now been seen by state investigators.

The “Houston Chronicle” reports that only 165 children have yet to be contacted, and Department of Public Safety investigators hope to have all of those children accounted for by early this week.

State police are helping with the backlog of CPS cases, as the agency pleads for more money to hire over five-hundred new employees.
