Texas Tech soccer has achieved it’s highest ranking ever in two different soccer polls released Tuesday. According to texastech.com, the Red Raiders are ranked number 7 in both the NSCAA/Continental Tire and Soccer America polls. Tech, who are 5-0 on the season, are the highest ranked school not only in Texas, but in the entire Big 12 conference. Their next game will be Friday against number 11 California on the Pac-12 network.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is being accused of sexual assault after a June 2009 incident. A former exotic dancer named Jana Weckerly is suing Jones for more than one-million-dollars, accusing him of forcing her to commit sexual acts against her will. An encounter between Jones, Weckerly, and two other women was first detailed when three photos were released of all four people in sexually seductive poses. Jones says the photos misrepresented what happened that night.

After video was released of running back Ray Rice punching his then fiancé in the face during an argument in an Atlantic City casino elevator, the Baltimore Ravens terminated Rice’s contract and the NFL changed his two game suspension to an indefinite one due to “new evidence.” According to ESPN, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says, despite what has been reported, the league never saw video from the incident. Many players are calling for Rice to be banned from the NFL and video game conglomerate Madden has pulled Rice’s likeness from its Madden 15 video game.

A chain of events involving general manager Danny Ferry led to Atlanta Hawks majority owner Bruce Levenson selling his controlling interest in the franchise. Levenson made the announcement Sunday in the wake of a racially insensitive email he wrote two years ago about the team’s struggle to attract fans and sponsors from the white community. In a letter obtained by Atlanta TV station WSB, dated June 12, Hawks co-owner Michael Gearon Jr. writes to Levenson about a racist statement made by Ferry when discussing free agent Luol Deng. Gearon asked for either Ferry’s firing or resignation, but as of Tuesday, neither has happened.
