(Oxnard, CA) — Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says he still expects his players to stand for the National Anthem.

Jones made his comments on Wednesday at his opening news conference for the team’s training camp, which is underway in Oxnard, California.

A new NFL directive would allow players to stay in the locker room, but Jones says he wants his players standing at attention on the sidelines.

Jones also defended the team’s association with Papa John’s Pizza, whose former CEO recently stepped down after it was learned he’d used a racial slur.
