Texas Tech football players Le’Raven Clark and Pete Robertson have been named to the AP All-Big 12 first team, the conference announced Monday. The junior offensive lineman and junior linebacker, respectively, were named to the team by a panel of 20 sports writers who cover college football. According to TexasTech.com, Clark and the Tech offensive line allowed only 13 sacks during the regular season, allowing for just over one sack per game. For his efforts on defense, Robertson had 81 tackles, averaging sixth in the nation, and was the Big 12 sack leader this season with 12.

Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby said he believes the fact that the conference does not have a title game had a “bad bearing” on Baylor and TCU not being named to the College Football Playoff. According to ESPN.com, Bowlsby has not made the decision on whether a game would be added, if the NCAA allowed it to expand to 13 games on the season. He also said the conference would not expand and add 2 more teams (taking the total to 12), as it would be a poor decision to do so because of the playoff.

Speaking of the Big 12, ESPN also reported the conference announced it will cover the full cost of a student-athlete’s attendance and offer multiyear scholarships. The league announced Monday that Big 12 schools will cover expenses beyond tuition and fees, room and board and supplies that they deem “reasonably related” to attendance. The league will hand out scholarships that run at least as long as an athlete’s period of eligibility. The Big 12 will also offer aid to former student-athletes seeking to return to school and earn their degree. The new bylaws will go into effect on August 1, 2015.

Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett has said quarterback Tony Romo has not been playing with a broken rib. After beating the Chicago Bears last week, Romo stated he had played part of the season not only with back issues, but with a broken rib. According to ESPN Dallas, Garrett, along with other sources has said Romo instead has been playing with a cartilage issue. The Cowboys are under investigation by the NFL for not listing Romo on the injury report for the rib, as league policy states “All players with significant or noteworthy injuries must be listed on the report, even if the player takes all the reps in practice, and even if the team is certain that he will play in the upcoming game.” The team could be subject to heavy fines.
